The smart all-around solution for charge point operators

Cloud-based charge point management is a cost-effective and scalable solution that can be easily integrated into existing energy management systems. The system is hardware-independent, meaning that charging stations that support the OCPP (“Open Charge Point Protocol”) can be quickly and easily connected to the network. Automatic updates from the cloud ensure that protocols and software are always up-to-date. Operation in Bosch’s own cloud also means the highest security and reliability standards.

Charge point operators can manage and adapt loads to their individual needs with configurable parameters. Based on the selected parameters, the system then uses smart algorithms to ensure optimal energy distribution to each of the charge points. For maximum flexibility, each charge point can be controlled individually or combined with others to form various network topologies. This enables a variety of use cases, such as cost-saving, uniform use of the existing network connection capacity by smoothing load peaks or charging during particularly cost-effective times.

In addition, cloud-based charge point management can be integrated into local energy and building management systems, reducing costs even further. For instance, vehicles can be charged with locally generated energy from solar arrays or combined heat and power plants as long as this energy is available. If the solar energy is insufficient, additional energy is taken from the power grid. In industrial systems with periods of high energy use, the output of existing charge points can be temporarily throttled and increased again during breaks or off-peak times to prevent overloading of the network connection or to reduce costs. Operators also benefit from the opportunity to offer network-supporting services. For example, during times of lower network utilization, excess energy from the network is used for charging, allowing additional income to be generated.
