The fifth generation of the vacuum sensor is a part of the modern conventional brake system. It monitors the vacuum inside the brake booster and thus enables to control the electric vacuum pump. It can furthermore activate the electronic stability program (ESP®) when needed.

The signal supplied by the vacuum sensor enables various vehicle functions such as start/stop.
The vacuum sensor increases vehicle safety and efficiency: It enables ESP® value-added functions to actively assist the driver when braking. In combination with the ESP® this reduces the braking distance in critical driving situations. To effectively reduce CO2 emissions, the start/stop system and the intelligent control of the electric vacuum pump require vacuum monitoring in the brake booster.
The new sensor generation is available in different variants. With its multifunctional concept and modular design, diverse manufacturer requirements can be met. This includes also the optional integration of a check valve for directly connecting the vacuum source.
