Operating principle
*Automated parking functions might not yet be available, or not universally, or will not be universally available. The use of automatic driving functions might not be permitted in your jurisdiction or might be permitted according to further or deviating legislative restrictions. Please always comply with the applicable national road traffic regulations and take safety precautions as advised.
The home zone park assist* takes on recurring maneuver for the driver. The driver teaches the system the exact path into the desired parking space once by driving the route manually. With the beginning and the end of the training drive, start and end positions are defined. The driver can save up to ten different parking procedures. When the vehicle reaches the start position again, both systems maneuver the vehicle conveniently and automatically into the target parking space. The home zone park assist relies on ultrasonic sensors, near-range cameras and corner radar sensors. If the vehicle’s surround sensors detect a stationary object in the driveway, the vehicle is braked. If only a minor change to the path is required, the systems can adjust the route and steer around the obstacle. The fusion of sensor data supports a more robust object detection and creates a better scene understanding. After activating the home zone park assist, all the driver needs to do is to monitor the vehicle's movement, which he can stop at any time.
