Electric coolant pump PDE

The powerful electric coolant pump PDE circulates the coolant in order to cool the battery and the powertrain. Its performance range is also designed to meet future battery cooling requirements during fast charging. In addition, it supports simultaneous cooling of two electric axles on particularly powerful electric vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive. The pump’s durability, noise development, and adapted temperature range are optimized specifically for applications in electric vehicles. A less powerful version could also be used, for example, for indirect charge air cooling in hybrid vehicles. The speed of the PDE coolant pump can be controlled and regulated via a PWM or LIN interface. The pump is equipped with a diagnostic function and is suitable for use both in continuous and intermittent operation. The electrical and hydraulic connections are adapted to the different customer requirements.

The PDE is a centrifugal pump in which the stator and electronics are mechanically separated from the rotor in the dry motor housing. The magnetic rotor functions as the pump wheel and is situated in the hydraulic circuit. Two sealing rings protect the motor section against external moisture. The electronics are cooled by means of a die-cast cover and communicate with a higher-level electronic control unit in order to adapt the coolant delivery rate to the relevant cooling situation by adjusting the speed accordingly. The coolant pump is available as an individual component, but can also be integrated into a thermal subsystem via a defined interface.

The brushless electric coolant pump PDE features a modular design and is available in three electrical power ratings of 110, 150, and 200 W to satisfy the diverse requirements of future electric vehicles.
