Vehicle Motion Management is a software system solution that controls the vehicle’s movement in all six degrees of freedom. By integrating braking, steering, powertrain and suspension, it enables the transition from isolated to centralized and cross-domain solutions, empowering a new level of driving for increased safety, comfort and agility. It also opens a new ecosystem for collaboration between Bosch and its customers.
Brake-by-wire eliminates the mechanical connection between the brake pedal and the brake system. Due to the omission of the mechanical connection, the components can now be installed where it is most optimal in terms of crash safety, NVH, and manufacturing. This flexibility also helps to avoid the need for different variants for right-hand and left-hand drive vehicles and enables new pedal concepts. Bosch offers both wet and dry brake-by-wire systems.
The dry brake-by-wire solution from Bosch comprises four electromechanical brake actuators, one at each wheel, controlled by redundant central or zonal ECUs that interface directly with the brake caliper.
The wet (hydraulic) brake-by-wire system from Bosch facilitates an easy transition to brake-by-wire technology. It is based on proven, cost-efficient components and easy to integrate into a vehicle's architecture. The system consists of two independent actuators: a newly developed by-wire brake actuator and a traditional ESP®.
Steer-by-wire opens up a new era in automotive technology. The elimination of the mechanical connection between the steering wheel actuator and the steering rack actuator enables new safety and comfort functions, increases agility, and creates completely new freedom in interior design.
Small damage detection identifies and classifies low energy impacts to a vehicle while driving and parking. Using existing sensors, it documents incidents enabling easier repairs, cost savings, and responsibility determination.
