Bosch offers user-centric solutions through its Vehicle Motion Management ecosystem, supporting vehicle manufacturers in the technological transformation towards the software-defined vehicle.

A variety of ready to use, hardware-agnostic motion features help to reach new levels of driving performance by using multi-actuator control. End users can directly experience these benefits by e.g. increased comfort, agility or an individualized motion experience.

Vehicle manufacturers can choose from an extensive modular feature catalogue and calibration services to reflect their brand identity. To implement these motion features as fast and efficiently as possible, Bosch offers a standardized motion software stack as well as complementing system integration solutions. Realizing the value of motion data is the goal of data-based solutions. From development data services to the tracking of component health, Vehicle Motion Management increases safety and comfort on the road.

This ecosystem is built up by three product categories: motion features, system integration and data-based solutions.

Motion features

A variety of motion features are available for optimizing vehicle dynamics, guidance and efficiency. Supported by fundamental data – for example regarding the vehicle’s state – they empower a safe, agile, comfortable and efficient driving experience.

All motion features put the end user experience at the center of attention, through perceptible added value to the driving experience and focus on the specific needs of different markets. These software products can be combined individually and deployed flexibly on distributed or centralized E/E architectures.

Experience vehicle dynamics control.

Vehicle dynamics control combines traditional brake control with additional actuators. It can anticipate the vehicle behavior and intervenes proactively. Benefits:

Comfort stop feature

Comfort stop feature ensures that the vehicle brakes comfortably to a standstill. Bosch offers two technical solutions to achieve this effect. One solution utilizes a conventional friction brake, while the other uses the electric motors in battery electric vehicles. Both solutions have the same benefits:

Easy turn assist and intelligent turn assist

Discover the benefits of easy turn assist.

Easy turn assist facilitates driving in sharp bends. By enabling a tighter turning circle, the risk of the car hitting objects and getting damaged is reduced.

Intelligent turn assist reduces the turning radius especially for outdoor situations on non-road surfaces.

Modular and scalable architecture with standardized interfaces

Bosch offers a modular and standardized reference architecture for the deployment of motion features for maximum flexibility, the motion software stack.

The basis for the architecture is a central efficiency and arbitration layer which includes several motion features depending on specific use cases and requirements. The features are clustered into:

Longitudinal guidance and dynamics
Lateral guidance and dynamics
Fundamental data (e. g. vehicle state estimation)

System integration

The Vehicle Motion Management ecosystem offers system integration solutions which support the vehicle manufacturers in efficiently managing the increasing software complexity in the Vehicle Motion domain and shortening the development and market introduction time of new motion software features.

These system integration tools provide the ability to integrate software to a desired deployment target in an automated manner, to set the calibration targets for selected functions and to accelerate test and release cycles. By that, Bosch provides solutions for the complete development and operations (DevOps) cycle in the Vehicle Motion domain.

Long-term maintenance cybersecurity

Bosch has established a layered organizational structure for vulnerability management and incident response, along with a concept to maintain the software update and release capability.

The active monitoring service provides additional information for the manufacturer’s vehicle-level vulnerability management process.
The frozen version support service ensures that all required tools and competencies are preserved, enabling immediate action in case of a detected vulnerability during the service contract period.

Both services support manufacturers to fulfill regulatory obligations (e.g., UNECE R155 and GDPR).

Data-based solutions

Comprehensive data algorithms and clients can be implemented on board of the vehicle, supported by off-board data-based solutions in the cloud with the help of digital twins. Data from motion features and actuators can be collected directly from the field, and then used to further improve the features and

enable continuous software updates. Furthermore, data-based solutions offer additional value for end users, for example through monitoring the status of the tire to provide safety-relevant information in case of pressure loss or a loose wheel.

Monitoring of tire condition

The Bosch data-based tire system offers continuous, individual monitoring of each tire, alerting drivers to potential issues through a user-friendly interface. It detects gradual pressure loss – even as small as ~5% deviation from the nominal value – and can identify wheel bolts loosening by just ~0.5mm.

Beyond early warnings, the system provides recommended actions and includes an easy reset function. In this way, Bosch data-based tire solutions help to avoid tire-related breakdowns and enhance safety on every drive.
