Vehicle connectivity services

The time until the start of production (SOP) of new vehicle models is often very short, which can make it difficult to fully implement all planned software functions in time. This then carries the risk of delays to the SOP and high consequential costs.

Bosch's vehicle connectivity solutions, on the other hand, allow manufacturers to focus on key functions (MVP – minimum viable product) until the start of production and to deliver newer software versions at a later date via over-the-air updates.

When gathering vehicle data in the field, it can happen that additional data needs to be acquired that was not known at the beginning. This can result in expensive change requests and long periods of time passing between the definition of additional requirements and the corresponding adaptation of the software in the field. With vehicle connectivity services, in contrast, the data acquisition can be configured flexibly over-the-air at any time – either for individual vehicles or entire fleets.

Furthermore, many other options are available for tailoring the data acquisition to specific needs. Among other things, the collection of data can be started or stopped automatically by previously defined events. It is also possible to create additional calculations in the vehicle based on the respective vehicle data.

For the registration of new vehicle models and updates to the vehicle software, manufacturers must verify compliance with legal regulations for the cybersecurity of their vehicles with the relevant authorities.
